Where to find the best margarita
When in Mexico, search for the best margarita. And I say search because while you would think everyone makes a great margarita, it is Mexico, that just isn’t true. The first dinner of our trip in Sayulita was a huge let down because while the food was great, the margarita was terrible and who wants a bad margarita to start off a long weekend in the home of margaritas? Don’t do as we did, go to these two places for the best in town instead.
Favorite cocktail bars
- Cava - Serving up super interesting, unique and tasty cocktails that you won't find anywhere else in Sayulita. The Poblano Escobar was our favorite cocktail which was raicilla amarillo, chile poblano, pineapple and lime all lightly blended together. They have a wide selection of mezcal as well.
- Estella Rooftop Bar - We went here on NYE and it was incredible. It is just south of the river above the OXO and you access it from the beach. They have wonderful cocktails, great music and one of the best settings to watch the sunset or fireworks.

Where to stay
Airbnb is a great option in Sayulita. There are over 200 places listed for all budges. It is also such a small town that you don't have to worry too much about the exact location. Everything is walking distance to the beach and to the main square.
Where we stayed: In this lovely Airbnb for $80/night. On a quiet street just off the main square and a short walk to the beach, it was exactly what we were looking for. Having our own pool was really refreshing after a long day at the beach as well. The only downside was there was no A/C which made it brutally hot at night. If you are there during the humid season, I would recommend finding a place with A/C.
Sayulita Suburban is an amazing transportation company that will be waiting for you at the airport, take you to their clean, comfy suburbans, have an ice chest of cold beer and water and take you directly to where you are staying in Sayulita for $130 round trip. We had an amazing experience with them and would highly recommend it. You can email them to reserve: email@example.com
Its Mexico, don't drink the water. Ever.
I'd recommend getting Pesos out at the airport as most ATMs in town only give out USD and you will get better deals with pesos.
